Hello FieldClock Users!
We hope that you've all been keeping safe and secure as COVID cases continue to rise, and that you're all anticipating the beginning of the holiday season! If there's anything that we at FieldClock can do to further assist the transition into the winter months, don't hesitate to let us know.
On to the update.
New Feature: API Access!
One of our core principles is that your data is your data, and FieldClock is a tool for you to manage your data in the most efficient way possible. Thanks to our awesome customers, we've been growing like crazy over the past few years. As a result, FieldClock is in use on farms with different crops, different workflows, and different needs. Every organization is unique, and every farm should be able to manage its data in the way that makes the most sense for its unique situation.
To that end, we are pleased to announce that we are opening up our API so that our customers can access it directly!
What is an API and why do I want that?
An API is a way for computer systems to talk to each other. The FieldClock mobile apps collect data from your employees, and send it to our API for processing. Our API then provides that data to the Admin Site, and to other systems (such as third-party payroll software).
Until now, if you had a separate piece of software that needed to interact with FieldClock, you generally had to download files from the Admin Site or upload files to it. This is how most payroll integrations work, and various other workflows like importing lists of employees or tasks. With direct access to our API, you now have the power to create your own integrations that meet the needs of your unique situations.
How can I use FieldClock's API?
Since an API is a way for computers to talk to other computers, you'll need some programming skills to use it. The recommended first step is to talk to your tech team (or service provider) and determine if direct integration with our API will make your life easier.
The documentation for our API is posted in our Help Portal. Many of our users are not technical and do not need access to this resource so it is not visible by default. To get access to the documentation, please reach out to our support team using the chat widget on the Admin Site.
This is going to be a phased roll-out. Starting today, you will be able to access endpoints to manage your basic objects such as Ranches, Blocks, Tasks, and Varieties. Within the next week you'll be able to manage Employees, and shortly after that you'll be able to export Job data (such as production, hours, QC notes, etc.)
Do I need FieldClock's API?
If your farm doesn't need this level of access, or you don't have the technical resources to create your own integrations, have no fear! We're still hard at work on new features for the mobile apps, Admin Site, and Employee Portal. The entire FieldClock platform will continue to grow and bring value to your organization even if you never use the API.
- SMS end of day summaries are close!
- ACH payments are also close!

Did You Know…
You may find yourself needing to view a summary of all notes created for the current day, rather than just notes for a specific employee, QC notes only, or notes at a certain job. In such a circumstance, the Daily Notes report is the best way to view a quick and summarized breakdown of all note data for a given date.
To use this report, navigate to the 'Reports' section of the Admin Site and click 'Daily Notes', the last entry in the column of the three daily reports on the left of the page.
By default, the report will generate data for the current day.
As seen above, the report will generate a simple table with four data columns. Additionally, the date can be modified at the top, opening a calendar window to select any desired day.
Also, as with all similar reports, the five buttons to the right allow you to export the data in your preferred format or to copy it.
- If data is still syncing or has not synced, do not sign out of the mobile app - data will be lost!
- Please remember to check for device as well as FieldClock updates
Until next week!
Best Regards, The FieldClock Team
